    Summary

Page builders decide how a WordPress site is edited, how much code each page ships and how hard the site is to move later. So we asked a simple question: which builders do WordPress sites actually use, and how up to date are they?

Elementor leads by a wide margin. Its markup appears in the page code of 26.3% of WordPress homepages, 2,314,219 of 8,811,077, which is more than WPBakery (8.6%), Divi (6.8%) and Beaver Builder (1.5%) combined. Builders are far less common on the most popular sites, and most Elementor sites run a recent release.

    What we measured

This study uses two separate samples, and the figures from each should not be mixed.

The headline shares come from 40.3M homepages crawled since 1 Jan 2026. We took the WordPress homepages among them (8,811,077) and searched their page code for markup each builder leaves behind: elementor-kit for Elementor, vc_row for WPBakery, et_pb_section for Divi and fl-builder-content for Beaver Builder. These are markup matches in the page code, not a count of active licenses.

The popularity tier and version figures come from the HTTP Archive crawl of September 2026 (mobile, top 1M sites by Chrome traffic), where builders and their versions are read from the page. That sample has 113,804 WordPress homepages, so its shares differ from the headline ones.

    Elementor leads WordPress page builders

Of 8,811,077 WordPress homepages, Elementor markup appears on 2,314,219 (26.3%). WPBakery follows on 755,781 (8.6%), then Divi on 597,933 (6.8%) and Beaver Builder on 132,917 (1.5%).

That is about one in four WordPress homepages. Its free version and large theme and add-on ecosystem likely explain much of that lead.

    26.3%

Share of 8,811,077 WordPress homepages crawled in 2026 with Elementor markup in their page code.

In the HTTP Archive top 1M sample, builder use falls as sites get more popular. Elementor is on 11.1% of top 100K WordPress homepages (865 of 7,776), 20.9% of those ranked 100K to 500K and 26.7% of those ranked 500K to 1M.

WPBakery and Divi follow the same pattern. WPBakery runs on 3.4% of top 100K WordPress homepages against 7.0% at 500K to 1M, and Divi on 0.6% against 2.6%. Beaver Builder stays under 1% in every tier.

The most visited sites are more likely to have in-house developers and custom themes, so they likely have less need for a visual builder. Builders are most common further down the top 1M, among the smaller sites that make up most of WordPress.

Most Elementor sites run a recent 4.x release

Elementor is on 26,896 top 1M homepages. Of the 26,631 that expose a version, 74.3% run 4.0 to 4.3.

Update habits barely change with site size. 71.3% of top 100K Elementor homepages run a 4.x release (839 with a version), against 73.9% at 100K to 500K (8,095) and 74.7% at 500K to 1M (17,697). Smaller sites keep up with Elementor releases about as well as the biggest ones, likely because updates are a one-click job in the WordPress admin.

Divi 5 adoption is still slow

Divi 5 is a rebuild of the Divi builder, and few sites have moved to it yet. Only 10.2% of 1,902 versioned Divi homepages in the top 1M run Divi 5, while 72.9% sit on 4.27, the final 4.x line.

That is not a sign of neglect. Divi 4.27 is still supported, and moving to a rebuilt builder is a bigger job than a routine update, so many site owners are likely waiting until they can test their layouts first.

What this means for your site

If your site runs a page builder, you are in good company, but the builder is now part of your maintenance plan.

    • Keep the builder and its add-ons updated along with WordPress core, and test major releases on a staging copy first.
    • If you run Divi 4.27, plan the Divi 5 move as a project: check each template and custom module on staging before switching.
    • Watch what the builder adds to each page. Builders differ in how much CSS and JavaScript they load, so check your Core Web Vitals after redesigns and big updates.
    • If you are planning a rebuild, weigh whether a builder is still the right fit or whether a block theme covers what you need.

    Frequently asked questions

What is the most popular WordPress page builder?

Elementor. Its markup appears on 26.3% of WordPress homepages (2,314,219 of 8,811,077), against 8.6% for WPBakery, 6.8% for Divi and 1.5% for Beaver Builder.

Do popular websites use page builders?

Less often. In the HTTP Archive top 1M sample, Elementor is on 11.1% of top 100K WordPress homepages, against 26.7% of those ranked 500K to 1M.

How many Elementor sites are up to date?

Of 26,631 top 1M Elementor homepages exposing a version, 74.3% run 4.0 to 4.3. The share on a 4.x release is similar across site sizes, from 71.3% in the top 100K to 74.7% at 500K to 1M.

How many Divi sites have moved to Divi 5?

Only 10.2% of 1,902 versioned Divi homepages in the top 1M run Divi 5. 72.9% sit on 4.27, the final 4.x line, which is still supported.

Builder updates and major version moves are routine work when they are tested on staging first, and they keep layouts from breaking on a live site. Need help with this? See our WordPress support services.

Popularity tier and version figures come from a separate HTTP Archive Sept 2026 mobile crawl of the top 1M sites (113,804 WordPress homepages) using the builder versions exposed on each homepage. The two samples are not combined. Divi 4.27 is still supported.
