    Summary

On a phone, the first screen of a product page decides a lot. If the price is not there, shoppers have to scroll before they can judge whether the product is worth a closer look.

We rendered ranking product pages at phone size and checked where the price lands. On 179 pages with a detectable price, 66.5% show it on the first phone screen and 33.5% make shoppers scroll. This is a short study on a small sample, so read the breakdowns as directional.

    What we measured

We rendered product pages that rank in Google for searches in commercial verticals, on a phone-sized 390x844 screen. 179 product pages had a price we could detect.

The price is the first visible currency-formatted price on the page. Prices in sticky bars, headers and navigation are not counted. A page shows the price on the first screen when the price element starts within the top 844 pixels. A stricter test, requiring the whole price element to fit on screen, is reported alongside.

One in three product pages hide the price below the fold

66.5% of the 179 product pages show the price on the first phone screen, and 33.5% make shoppers scroll to see it. Requiring the whole price element on screen drops the visible share to 61.5%, so some prices are cut off at the bottom edge.

The median price sits 726 px from the top of the page, inside the 844 px screen but close to its lower edge. Large image galleries, badges and long titles above the price are likely reasons it gets pushed down, though we did not measure them.

The price is not the only thing that slips. On 141 pages where both the price and an Add to Cart button were found, 45.4% show the price on the first screen but leave Add to Cart below it.

    33.5%

Share of 179 ranking product pages with a detectable price where shoppers must scroll on a phone to see the price.

Platform and rank barely change the picture

By platform, the share hiding the price below the fold ranges only from 32.7% on other platforms (49 pages) to 33.6% on Shopify (122 pages). The habit is not tied to one platform.

By rank, it ranges from 30.2% for pages ranking 11 to 20 (86 pages) to 39.0% for pages ranking 4 to 10 (59 pages), with no clear trend from top to bottom. With groups this small, a handful of pages can move a share by several points, so treat these differences as directional.

What this means for your site

Open your best-selling product pages on a phone, or in a browser emulator set to 390x844, and check whether the price is visible without scrolling.

    • Keep the title, price and main image compact enough that the price lands on the first screen.
    • Move badges, long review summaries and promo banners below the price.
    • Check that Add to Cart is close behind, or add a sticky Add to Cart bar.
    • Re-check after theme updates and new apps, which can add blocks above the price.

    How we measured

    Methodology & Source

    Data source
Phone-sized (390x844) render of product pages ranking in Google
    Collection date
    October 2026
    Sample
    179 product pages
    Release
    PageSpeed Matters, Oct 2026

Short study: 179 product pages with a detectable price, rendered at 390x844. The price is the first visible currency-formatted price outside headers, navigation and sticky bars; prices in those areas are not counted. First screen means the price starts within the top 844 px. Small group sizes make platform and rank splits directional only.
