    Summary

Express wallet buttons let a shopper skip most of the checkout form and pay with details they have already saved. We wanted to know how many ranking product pages show one on a phone, before the shopper even reaches the cart.

17.1% of 269 ranking product pages rendered on a phone show an express wallet button such as Shop Pay, PayPal, Google Pay or Apple Pay. This is a floor, not a full count, for the reasons below.

    17.1%

Share of 269 ranking product pages rendered on a phone that show an express wallet button. A floor, since some wallets only appear on eligible devices.

    What we measured

We rendered product pages that rank in Google on a phone-sized 390x844 screen in October 2026. 269 product pages were usable for this check. We looked for branded wallet elements, accelerated checkout components and wallet button labels outside the header and footer.

Treat the result as a minimum. Our test browser had no Apple Pay and no saved Google Pay wallet, so buttons that only appear on an eligible device are missed. Wallets that appear only after a shopper selects a variant are also missed. The breakdown groups are small, from 33 to 152 pages.

Wallet buttons vary most by platform

Platform is the biggest difference. Express wallet display ranges from 3.8% on other platforms (106 pages) to 27.6% on Shopify (152 pages). Many Shopify themes include dynamic checkout buttons on the product page by default, which likely explains much of the gap.

By rank, display ranges from 10.4% for pages ranking 1 to 3 (48 pages) to 21.5% for pages ranking 4 to 10 (93 pages), with pages ranking 11 to 20 at 16.4%. There is no sign that higher-ranking pages show wallets more often.

By vertical, it ranges from 10.5% in beauty and health (76 pages) to 30.3% in outdoor and fitness (33 pages). Apparel and jewelry sits at 25.7% and home, kitchen and garden at 16.0%. These groups are small, so read the vertical gaps as directional.

What this means for your site

In our render, most ranking product pages showed no express wallet button on a phone, though some wallets only appear on eligible devices. If your checkout supports wallets, showing them on the product page is worth testing.

    • Turn on product page buttons if your platform offers them, and check they appear on a real phone, not just on desktop.
    • Keep them below the main add to cart button, so they add a fast option without confusing shoppers who want to keep browsing.
    • Watch the speed cost. Wallet buttons usually add scripts to the product page, so check your page in PageSpeed Insights before and after.
    • Test the impact on conversion rate rather than assuming it helps every store.

    Frequently asked questions

How many online stores show express checkout buttons on product pages?

At least 17.1% of 269 ranking product pages rendered on a phone show an express wallet button. Our check misses some wallets, so the true share is likely higher.

Do Shopify stores show express checkout buttons more often?

Yes. 27.6% of Shopify product pages in our sample show an express wallet button, against 3.8% on other platforms.

Express wallet buttons are often a setting rather than a build, so they are worth testing on the product page if your checkout already supports them. Need help with this? See our ecommerce CRO agency.
